When we moved to Colorado the first time, over a year ago, we intended to settle down. Put down roots, build a home, stay somewhere for more than two years.
But when we make plans, God likes to remind us Who is really in charge.
Six months later, we packed our bags and headed to DC, where we’ve enjoyed nine chaotic, healing months. Healing after years of separation and transition. We welcomed our squishy baby, ate too much Amish chocolate, and lost a lot of sleep over kids sharing a room, a newborn, and endless decisions.
Once again, we had intended to settle down here, in Virginia, but God had even more plans, and in August we’re moving back to Colorado.
North Carolina to Colorado to Virginia to Colorado in less than two years. Whew–I’m tired just thinking about it. This will be my tenth move in seven years.
We’re going to settle down…maybe. That’s the plan, anyway. Our desperate hope. We are homesick for roots and stability.
And we’re also going to build our house. Remember that crazy A-frame idea? Yep, we’re doing it! We are under contract to buy land in Manitou Springs, and we close in August. Praise Jesus! You’ll be hearing a lot more about that in the coming months, but for now, stay updated on our journey through instagram @aframeinthesprings.
The details, as usual, are still up in the air, but we do know Richard will be traveling for work for quite some time as we go through the building process and adjust back to Colorado living. Once again, we’ll be living with my parents and soaking up the fresh mountain air.
I wish I could tell you more, but I don’t even know myself.
For those of you who have been following my blog since the beginning, you know it’s half craziness and half everyday, mundane, endlessly-changing-diapers-and-preparing-snacks living around here. Our family is messy and beautiful and I can hardly keep up with us, so thank you for following us from one adventure to the next.
We are truly honored to take you along for the ride.
Ready to go to Colorado?
I am very excited for your whole family! This is our dream too, to settle down somewhere and put down bigger roots. I can’t wait to do this someday too. I have to wait a few more years though. This just sounds wonderful.
