Sorry to disappoint

Weekends are the best. My son is on the floor learning to crawl, my husband is making me a cup of tea, and there’s absolutely nothing that needs to be done today. It’s wonderful. What was less wonderful is that the first thing my husband noticed when I woke up is that the left half of my face resembles that of a well fed chipmunk. Either my swollen sinuses are acting up or my son punched me in the face last night–possibly the latter but most likely the former. I can’t wait to kick this cold. It is a cold, by the way, and not morning sickness. Obviously, my father has had more grandkids on his mind because when I told him I was sick his mind immediately went to pregnancy, and now he’s subtly dropping hints about how my son needs a friend.

But I digress. Yesterday we had every intention to start the 21 day fix program today but when I opened the fridge this morning I realized it’s empty, which is not conducive to healthy eating or really any kind of eating at all. Sorry to disappoint, but you will not be seeing dramatic results from us yet. And yes, that picture above is of our fridge. It may not look empty but there’s not a whole lot to be done with condiments, which is what makes up most of the picture.

My husband informed me that our fridge is not in fact empty but all that’s there is a melon, cheese, pork, and brownies. Ladies and gentlemen, that could be a Chopped mystery basket. Chopped used to be my means of sanity and staying awake during those blasted night feedings until I watched all 35 episodes of the only collection on Netflix. That was a sad day. As my husband likes to proudly remind me, he is a master chef and he could make a fantastic dinner from those ingredients: cheesy pork with melon. I’m fairly confident when I say he would be chopped for that.

We’ll be making our trip to the grocery store this afternoon or tomorrow, and if I ever get around to creating a meal plan then we’ll be set as far as food as concerned. Then it’s a 30 minute workout every day for 21 days, which will hopefully give us the same dramatic results we see in all the testimonies. I’m pretty excited to start making some changes because I love living healthy. Stay tuned.
